Tinubu and Akande absent at APC National Executive Meeting

THE National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, as well as the party’s former Interim National Chairman, Bisi Akande, were absent at the ongoing meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja. Their absence, observers said, could be due to their dissatisfaction with the National Assembly following the recent elections of leaders of both chambers on June 9. The elections eventually plunged the party into crisis, leading to verbal attacks and cold war among party chieftains. Early this week, Akande wrote a controversial open letter, where he alleged a conspiracy of the North against the South west, warning that the APC may lose future elections if the crisis was not nipped in the bud. The letter generated reactions within and outside the party.
