One confirmed dead as cultists clash in Delta State

UGHELLI—IN what seems to be a revenge mission on the attack of their gang member, a group of suspected cultists in Ughelli, Delta State, have trailed and shot down a suspected member of a rival cult.

The victim, identified as Kess Olotu, who was buried in his community at Otor-Iwhereko within Ughelli metropolis, was attacked by the rival gang around Ughelli Central Garage, popularly referred to as Ughelli Urban, and was said to have died from gunshot wounds.

Renewed cult activities recently rocked Ughelli, when suspected cultists attacked and maimed a rival gang member within the same area in broad daylight.

According to a source in one of the groups, irked by the attack on their colleague who is currently receiving medical attention in an undisclosed private hospital within Ughelli, the gang mobilised and attacked the late Kess Olotu as a warning to rival gang members.

Speaking to ClassicMedia, a member of Ughelli local vigilante and senior executive of Otor-Iwhereko, said: “Immediately we got report of the incident, we mobilised and chased the boys leading to the shooting and arrest of one of them by the police.”
