Anambra: Obiano Slams Human Flesh Report

By Nkiru Nwagbo , 12:00 am , May 22, 2015 Headlines, News Without minding the apology by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), and other media organisations over the fake report of Anambra State selling human flesh in a restaurant in the state, Governor Willie Obiano, has attributed it to the handiwork of enemies of progress, who do not like the development revolution already going on in the state. He described the report carried by some media organisations as malicious, adding that the state investigated the report thoroughly and found out that it was false. In a statement issued on Thursday, in Awka, by the newly appointed Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Mrs. Mary Imelda Nwogu, said Anambra State was open for investors. According to the statement, “The attention of the Anambra State government has been drawn to a false and malicious report circulating on social media over the purported closure by the Nigeria Police of a restaurant selling human flesh in Anambra state. “This story, as reprehensible and false as it is, was also published by a national daily which has since retracted it and apologised, having found it to be untrue. “The government of Anambra State having investigated the story and found same to be false, hereby, urges Ndi Anambra and friends of the state to ignore the said story as it is part of a wider smear campaign by anti-democratic forces and enemies of progress, who have been attempting to sabotage the fast paced visible infrastructural and social development going on in the state. “These individuals, who go by various aliases on social media and on some other media platforms have continued to feed unsuspecting members of the public with lies about Anambra state, in the hope that they will distract the present administration.“It is instructive that the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police, Anambra State Command, Uche Ezeh, had in an earlier statement to the media debunked the false story. “Anambra State, the light of the nation, is open for business and is now the destination of choice in Nigeria for investors looking for a government friendly investment climate, security, large market, attractive return on investment, skilled manpower and supporting infrastructure” the statement read.

No fewer than 30 traders, including five pregnant women, sustained injuries following an attack by some miscreants who claimed to be road decongestion officials. According to two of the victims, Chika Nweke and Okechukwu, “they demanded from us, between N4,000 and N10,000 for any goods to be released to the owner”. It was while they were at the hideout that the police at Fegge, acting on a tip-off, stormed the place and arrested their alleged leader and one other member. The alleged leader was said to have told the police that miscreants infiltrated the operation which resulted in the looting and beating of the traders, adding that he had authorization to decongest roads in the area from the state Ministry of Transport.

How To Stop Bulk SMS From MTN

I am very sure that am not in it all alone, you are also getting the messages. Recently, MTN Nigeria which is more or less the favorite network used by people in this country started being annoying by the things they do. It is no doubt that they have from the inception been very consistent(except for some moment of madness that seldom come) in their operations. They continued to impress in everything hitherto they started campaigning for their customers by bombarding peoples phone with annoying text messages. People complain of getting such messages every minute of the day and it started to be irritating. It is hard to take especially when they have also decided to offer people what they termed caller tunez by force. Of course they do bill me every month for it even when I didnt remember subscribing for it. Now let me tell you how to get away from the annoying text messages that disturbs your sleep. Just type STOP and send it 33111 and you will receive a message that will tell you they would opt you out of their campaign messages in 24 hours. I just hope they won't find another means to start sending the messages again.

The Personality Hon. (Dr.) G. Nnamdi Okafor.

My name is Dr. Godwin Nnamdi Okafor. I am from Umuzocha village in Awka. I attended St Patrick Primary School before proceeding to Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha (DMGS) where I finished with a Grade One result (WAEC). I then proceeded to the United States of America where I studied Pharmacy. I earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, USA in 1992 and immediately after sat for and passed the Florida Pharmacist Licensure Exam. I immediately secured employment as a pharmacist at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida –one of the most popular and busiest hospitals in the State of Florida. I quickly rose to the position of a Supervisor within just two (2) years. I later, also worked as Senior Pharmacy Manager for Walgreens Pharmacy, and Costco Department Store respectively, all in Miami. After a few good years, I founded and established a very successful independent pharmacy business in South Florida called "We Care Pharmacy and Home Health, Incorporated" which I sold to the CVS Pharmacy Group before relocating to Nigeria in 2010. I served as the President of Anambra State Association (ASA-USA), South Florida Chapter from 2001 to 2008, and was the host President of the ASA-USA National Convention held in Miami, Florida in 2007 with Governor Peter Obi, Dr Chris Ngige, Igwe Achebe of Onitsha, Igwe Mbaukwu, and many others in attendance. Filled with the urge and passion to serve my people and to make a difference, I contested for the 2011 Anambra State House of Assembly election for the Awka South Constituency A but was unsuccessful. In the minds of many, I lost that election because INEC did not list my name as the PDP candidate even though I was lawfully nominated by the PDP's National Working Committee. Instead, some powerful people removed my name and inserted their own candidate. I thank God for making me a successful entrepreneur. I am currently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Maxpoint International Limited; PassPort Properties and Construction Company Limited all with Head Quarters here in Nigeria. To help empower our youths and keep them off the streets, and away from the life of crime, I initiated and am sponsoring the Annual DR. G. It is my ardent belief that these tournaments apart from bringing the communities together, and engaging the youths, would proactively help discover new talents from the Awka and Okpuno axis who may make it to the Super Eagles and other major professional football teams around the world. Priceless indeed. Yes We Can, Yes We Will !!! To support our able Governor and to give back to our children, I printed and donated 10,000 customized exercise books with Governor Willie Obiano's picture for distribution to Awka South LGA schools to mark the Governor's 100 days in office. Yes We Can, Yes We Did!!! I have personally helped secure admissions for dozens of our people into Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
